12.12.2014 // I don't like hype. When some random brand/store/person all of a sudden become the new hot thing I either A) don't trust it (it's all fancy marketing right?) or B) instinctually go against it (I have this weird thing about following rules). So when someone tells me "ZOMG you have to try this new denim brand, it will change your life/body/mind/soul" I take it with a huge grain of salt and typically roll my eyes.

Until now.

Let me tell you, the hype around Mother denim is totally real. Their cult following is completely warranted. I'm pretty sure these jeans have magical powers, one part the comfiest thing you have ever owned and two parts perfect fit/confidence booster. Go try them on now.

Also, how glorious is this rain?? Pretty sure I'm one of the few people living in Southern California that hates the perma-sunny weather, so right now my heart is glowing.

Hello again.

12.08.2014 // I'm alive I swear! To be honest, my break has been mostly due to big changes (hello full time job!) and some self doubt. I sat down one day to write a post and was hit by the question, why do I write what I write? What is my purpose for having this blog? Yes, I love to dress up, I love to shop. It's a form of creativity for me, but I've always want this to be more than that. I found myself scrolling through my Instagram feed of other Fashion-y types with a nonstop inner dialogue of personal critiques, "I need to have a cooler job...I'm not living a fancy enough life to keep up...I should workout more...Maybe if I do my makeup different I'll get more followers..." What was once a source of inspiration was now stoking my insecurities. We look at people's lives through the lens of highly curated, often staged moments that we are meant to believe are just everyday, offhand occurrences. What the hell is fancier life anyways? Shouldn't I strive to fill my life with joy, beauty, and love? It does not need to translate to a little pixelated square on an iPhone to be real.

Now I feel like most people would assume this long winded speech would end in some I'm boycotting instagram/social media/going off the grid sort of statement, but it's not. These platforms are what inspired me in the first place! But it has taught me to check my motivations and created clarity that we all need to be responsible for what we put out into the world.

Do not let comparison steal your joy. Be the truest you you can be and it will radiate in every aspect of your life. Own your love of leather boots and lipstick and latte art because they because make you feel alive. Life gets hard when you least expect it and these little moments of beauty can be our life rafts between difficult times.

Here's an outfit post I've had sitting on my computer for a week. In love with this silk dress that I snagged from Anthro. ($9.95's for the WIN!)

Not hot.

10.20.2014 // You know what is pathetic? Considering 75 degrees sweater weather. But I've come to terms with the fact that this is the delusion I live in. So thanks to South Coast Plaza air conditioning, I'm able to layer up and occasionally wear a sweater or two. Anyways, I've been super into wearing dresses under shirts and sweaters as a way of reinventing them as skirts. And garter belts are usually dangerous territory but as someone who cannot stand saggy socks they are extremely practical. I say wear what you want, if it makes you happy.

Life is Beautiful.

10.14.2014 // I have a bad habit. This time of year is my absolute favorite, yet I never fail to over pack fall with commitments and work. Don't get me wrong,  I love being busy, but there's nothing more depressing that blinking and watching an entire month and a half disappear. So this weekend I got a chance to put everything on hold and scape for a little bit and just enjoy this beautiful season. We escaped the sunny OC bubble and went up to Big Bear where the trees actually change color and the air gets crisp. I'm pretty sure I left my heart up there in the forest.

09.22.2014. // Today is officially the first day of fall! It may still be grossly hot and dry out, but I think fall isn't just a season it's a state of mind. It has always been my favorite time of year, a time to be introspective and draw closest to friends and family. And wear really cute boots and dresses and tights and layers and all that jazz. See, it really is the best time of year.

Also, if you see this skirt at your local Anthropologie, but it without hesitation. Its the softest thing ever made and you'll look pretty freaking amazing.

09.16.2014 // I can't take this anymore. I'm usually one to look at the bright side but I cannot put a positive spin on the overwhelming and completely overbearing triple digit heat we've been experiencing. I want chilly gray mornings and I want them now! I figure if I start dressing the part, cold weather will have to come. So today I threw on a beanie in protest, let's just say I'm extremely thankful my work has air-conditioning.

Top Knot Goods Fall 2014

Ahhhhh! Top Knot Goods makes some of the greatest stuff for bad babes and I got the chance to be in their fall 2014 look book along with Ty and the lovely Kelsey Rae. Let me just say, the Pink Motel up in Sun Valley is a sight to see and was the PERFECT backdrop to all out shenanigans for the day. It may be 90+ degrees out, but that won't stop me from wearing all leather and vintage furs and of course my TKG beanie. Go shop now!
